The National President of Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria (FTAN), Mallam Saleh Rabo, his counterpart at the National Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), Hajia Bilikisu Abdul and Delta state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Honourable Emmanuel Chinye have joined the list of confirmed guests for the forthcoming Niger Delta Tourism Expo scheduled to take place in Calabar next month.
The information was made available through a release, following a visit of the duo of Ubong Ekpe and Joseph Utin of the expo’s planning committee, to the office of the FTAN boss in Abuja on Tuesday, 12th of June 2018.
According to the press release, speakers, panelists and participants from the region and professionals in the tourism industry will converge in Calabar, to chart a course for the improvement of the economy of Niger Delta states beyond the oil deposits it is known for.
Scheduled to hold between 11 – 13 July 2018 at the Tinapa Lakeside Hotel, Calabar, Cross River State, the summit has as its theme: ‘Niger Delta Beyond Oil: Tourism, A Tool for Sustainable Development.’ Topics and panels will dwell on issues ranging from hospitality, the role of the media, the government, security agencies, the locals, financial and traditional institutions. Creating a forum for series of intellectual discussions by tourism stakeholders, operators, investors and government representatives of the nine (9) states of the region on tourism development.
Other institutions billed to participate are the Institute for Tourism Professionals, the Institute of Hospitality UK and Women in Hospitality Nigeria. Delta, an oil producing state in Niger Delta region of Nigeria confirms their attendance with a delegation from the Ministry on a 3 – day study tour to Calabar, capital of Nigeria’s foremost tourism destination, during the Niger Delta Tourism Expo 2018.
